Bitcoin and crypto aren‘t unraveling the banks.
The U.S. government is in the business of bailing out banks. But some people prefer to keep cash under the mattress.
It depends on who you ask, but this round of government interventions doesn’t yet resemble the large-scale, taxpayer-involved rescue in the wake of the 2008 financial meltdown.
“MetaLawMan” James Murphy says that in 30 years of experience he has “never seen anything this lenient in a situation” where someone has lost millions of dollars of users’ money.
U.S. prosecutors worry he could use the privacy tool to access foreign crypto sites or the dark web while on bail.
The lawyers cited privacy and safety concerns as reasons for requesting the concealment of identities.
